Jamario: A Mature Tyrus Thomas

The NFL and NHL have shown the perils of unbridled expansion. But if David Stern ever decides to spread the NBA’s borders, don’t worry. If this kid — Jamario Moon — can come out of nowhere to make Jorge Garbajosa irrelevant in Toronto, you know there’s plenty of NBA-ready talent available in the minors. A sampling of Jamario’s fun, which could be seen by Chicago fans if Scott Skiles didn’t despise Tyrus Thomas/the world:

This guy bopped around the ABA, the D-League, the USBL and the Mexican league (!) before making it to the show as a long-shot Bryan Colangelo special. And he’s relegated Jason Kapono and Carlos Delfino to the bench and Joey Graham to DNP-CD club. He ran away from Tracy McGrady in prep school. He was so outside the NBA last year he got geeked about getting free socks from the Raptors.

You know what Jamario Moon is also proof of? There are some terrible GMs in this league. Guys like Colangelo and R.C. Buford end up with more quality players than can see the court. Meanwhile, other rosters have trouble fielding even an acceptable player at some positions.
